Tax law is the notified scheme of regulations that explains government tariffs on financial dealings, usually described taxes.

In India Central Government and the State Governments are charged those taxes. The local authorities are also involved in charge of some minor taxes such as Municipality or the Local Council.

Constitution of India assigns the power to the authority to impose different taxes between the Central and the State. A vital constraint on this rule is Article 265 of the Constitution which conveys that "No tax shall be levied or collected except by the authority of law. “So each tax charged or composed has to be supported by an associated law, approved either by the assembly or the State administration.

Under Article 246 of the Indian Constitution, hand out governmental authority including taxation, between the legislative body and the State governing body. Agenda VII lists these areas under discussions applying of three lists;

List - I : involving the regions on which only the parliament is capable to formulates laws,

List - II : leading to the regions on which only the state administration can constructs laws, and

List - III : listing the areas on which both the governing body can make laws upon parallel.
